By the age of 13, Alexander Ghindin had won the Moscow Young Pianists’ Competition, and at 14 he became the youngest person ever to win the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Ghindin, the first-place winner of the 2007 Cleveland International Piano Competition, has been recognized by The Washington Post as an “uncommonly musical pianist” whose recitals are “searching, solemn, and clean.” Ghindin has performed in his native Russia, Europe, and Japan with celebrated orchestras, including the Russian National Orchestra and the London and Munich philharmonics.

A native of Conyers, Georgia, Sam Skelton has been active on the Atlanta music scene for well over a decade. Mr. Skelton graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University and the private studio of Tony Carere with a degree in Jazz Studies. During his course of study at GSU, Sam was a Montgomery Music Scholar and a two-time fellowship recipient to the Aspen Music Festival. He continued his saxophone studies with Kenneth Radnofsky at Boston University in 1991. Sam has performed and/or soloed with The London Symphony Orchestra, The Atlanta Symphony, The Atlanta Pops, The Peachtree Pops, The Atlanta Ballet Orchestra and The Cobb Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous local high school and civic ensembles. World Premiers include James Oliverio’s Children of A Common Mother, Lee Johnson’s Ora Pro Mi: Concerto for Winds Soloist (clarinet, flute and soprano saxophone) and Seaside Symphony (clarinet and soprano saxophone soloist). Sam also played the premier recording of Ora Pro Mi and Seaside Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra.  >  WEB SITE

BRIDGET-MICHAELE REISCHL is the first American to win the 1995 Antonio Pedrotti Conducting Competition in Italy, Ms. Reischl has appeared with numerous orchestras, such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Dayton Philharmonic , Cobb Symphony Orchestra and the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. She also serves as Music Director of the Oberlin Orchestras at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, a post she has held since 2005.

Ms. Reischl’s international career has included engagements with many orchestras throughout Europe. She has recently completed a concert tour of China and will return again to Italy this summer to conduct Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. Upcoming domestic guest engagements include a return this season to the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the Cantigas Women’s Chorale in New Jersey. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music and student of Robert Spano, Ms. Reischl continued her studies as a conducting fellow at both the Tanglewood and Aspen Music Festivals, working with Seiji Ozawa, David Zinman and Murry Sidlin. She has recorded with the following labels: Velut Luna, CRI, and Sea Breeze Record Company. Ms. Reischl is scheduled to record a new release this season on the Telarc label with internationally acclaimed harpist, Yolanda Kondonassis.

Matthew Allen began studying cello at the age of four. In 2002, at age ten, he became principal cellist of the Big Bend Community Orchestra. He retained this position until 2005 when at age 13, he was named the youngest member in the history of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. In addition to serving as principal cellist of the Florida All-State Orchestra from 2005-2007, Allen has twice received the Gold Cup Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs and won the 2007 grand prize in the Cobb Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition.

Jana Young, soprano - Praised for her beautiful lyric singing, most notably in the bel canto repertoire, soprano Jana Young is a native of Louisiana. She received her vocal training at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she holds two degrees; a B.M.Ed and a BM in Vocal Pedagogy. She later moved to Dallas, Texas to continue her vocal study with Madeline Sanders, a student of Gina Cigna. Mrs. Young moved to Darmstadt, Germany upon scholarship with the American Institute of Musical Studies and remained in Europe performing in recitals, and concert. While in Darmstadt, Ms. Young studied with Eva von Ambrosius of the Frankfurt Stadtstheater. Upon returning to the United States, Mrs. Young graduated with a M.M. in Vocal Performance from The University of Louisiana-Monroe, where she studied with Dr. John Burgin.

During her year at The University of Louisiana Jana Young was selected to premiere Richard Hervig's "Five Romantic Songs", the winner of the first NATS song composition competition. She regularly sings with the Naples Philharmonic under the direction of Maestro Christopher Seamon, and sings with the Miami Bach Society, the Miami Youth Orchestra, as soloist with the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami, Collegium Musicum, Mainly Mozart Festival, the Nakamichi Concert Series in Boston, and the University of Miami Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Young was the soprano soloist in Mahler's Symphony # 2, under noted Mahler expert, Gilbert Kaplan, soloist in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Mass in C major, and Mozart's Solemn Vespers with the Bahamian National Choir and Orchestra, in Nassau, Bahama. She also was the soprano soloist in premiere and subsequent recording of Steven Edward's Ave Maria Mass with the London Sinfonia Orchestra.

In 2003, Jana Young was the featured soloist at Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall, for "A Birthday Concert Celebration for Ned Rorem" with the noted composer present. She was cited in the New York papers for her ability to achieve the "near impossible" by alternating the angular vocal lines with perfect skill and lyric beauty of tone in performances of two of his most famous songs:   Alleluia and The Silver Swan, and as the soprano soloist with the Miami Chamber Ensemble in Rorem"s Ariel: Five Poems of Sylvia Plath. This past year, Mrs. Young was the soprano soloist in Schubert"s Mass in Eb, with the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of Maestro Jo-Michael Scheibe.

From 1991-2005, Mrs. Young served on the voice faculty at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. Beginning in the fall of 2005, Ms. Young is Artist-In-Residence on the voice faculty at Kennesaw State University.  Ms Young is also active as a vocal clinician, adjudicator and Master Class Teacher. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

Cheryl Vanture Davenport
Cheryl has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her first debut as a solo singer was in fifth grade. She sung in her high school and college chorus as well as her church choirs. In college she also sang with the Madrigals and had solos in the Broadway Cabaret.

Cheryl went to Presbyterian College graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a minor in Religion. From there she continued her studies at Georgia State University, receiving a Masters in Community Counseling after taking a year to work with kids at Talladega Children’s Home. She also attended Psychological Studies Institute while at Georgia State where she earned her diploma in Christian Counseling. She worked for the state of Georgia in the Mental Health Centers in both Dalton and Canton, working with people suffering with addiction, sexual abuse, and mental illness.

Cheryl married Roger Davenport over seventeen years ago. She has two stepchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer. Jeremy now lives in Roswell and works for an advertising agency. Jennifer is presently a nurse at Northside Hospital.

Cheryl has enjoyed singing the National Anthem for both the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Hawks. Presently Cheryl is singing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. She is also a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marietta, GA and sings in the Chancel Choir. Cheryl collaborated with three other church friends to create a Christmas CD of which she is extremely proud titled, Quiet Carols. She is very proud to be a part of the Cobb Symphony Chorus, and looks forward to many years with the organization.

22 year old cellist Tina Guo has appeared as a soloist with the San Diego Symphony, as well as with the La Jolla Symphony, the State of Mexico National Symphony, the Palomar Symphony, the Paducah Symphony, the Petrobras Symphony, the Culver City Symphony, the Pueblo Symphony, the Auburn Symphony, the Idylwild Symphony, and the Vancouver Island Symphony. Upcoming concerts include performances of the Dvorak Concerto with the Auburn Symphony and the Shostakovich Concerto with the Cobb Symphony. Tina also played with the Foo Fighters live at the 2008 Grammy Awards.

Tim Whalen has played in New York City at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Lincoln Center, The Jazz Standard, Sofia's, Kavehaz, Cleopatra's Needle and others. He has also performed all over the United States, Europe, and Japan in many different musical situations. Whether he is playing jazz, funk, pop, or laying it down in a hip-hop band, Tim is as versatile as they come. Needless to say, the future is bright for Tim Whalen. Whalen is held in high regard as a composer, arranger, and orchestrator. His most recent accomplishment is his string orchestration for the Oscar-winning song “El Otro Lado del Rio” from the film “The Motorcycle Diaries.” Tim has also written music for commercials as well as jazz and classical ensembles. Versatility is so important these days, and he is equally at home writing music for an orchestra as he is writing for a jazz quintet.   >  WEB SITE
