CSO Chamber Chorus

Calvin_MillerI think I was born singing. There are pictures of me at three singing in the church "cherub" choir. I sang through high school, through college, in musical theatre, and in small ensembles well into my 30s. I even took voice lessons in my late 30s just because I loved learning the music and the techniques that allowed my to express my joy.

I moved from California to Georgia with my family in January 2005. Somehow in the months that followed, I lost that joy. I joined the church choir, which was good, but I just wasn't satisfied. I longed for a challenge. I wanted to be around musicians who had fun while working their craft. I needed to surround myself with others who expressed joy through singing.

Founded in 2006, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is already the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast. The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus program encompasses two full orchestras, two string orchestras, two wind ensembles, a jazz ensemble, a percussion ensemble, and two youth choruses.

The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (GYSO&C) was founded on the idea that students should have the opportunity to create a lifelong partnership with the arts.
