Dear GYSO Chorus,

FacebookI hope everyone had a great holiday. Rehearsals start back up this Tuesday (January 12) at the normal time. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll see you on Tuesday.

Community Service Opportunity

Need some community service hours for school? The Atlanta Opera has contacted us about students looking to complete service hours. They are seeking music students who would be willing to participate in a 'petting zoo' of instruments and instrumentalists as well as students who might be interested in "performances, stage combat demonstrations, interactive costume shop, Atlanta Opera Costume Shop tours, stage makeup demonstrations, crafts, face painting, and the like." The time is 10 am - 2 pm on Saturday March 27. Please let me know if you are interested.

Composers Concert this Saturday

There are only 20 tickets left for this Saturday's concert of world premieres. Don't miss out on hearing the Copland's Appalachian Spring, the CSO's Jen Mitchell, and Atlanta Symphony Principal Flutist, Christina Smith. Tickets are only $15, and as always, students in GYSO&C receive a free ticket. Please let me know if you would like to reserve yours!

Concerto_CompetitionA little BirdieThird Annual Concerto Competition

Open to GYSO&C members only, this competition is just another way to gain valuable experience in auditioning. Some students will be selected to perform with the CSO and or GYSO&C Symphony, but the most important item is the opportunity to learn from the audition process.  Members may perform on their primary instrument or another instrument (including voice and piano) provided that the work performed is originally written for soloist and orchestra.
