"The Concerto Competition presents a way for us to show off the tremendous young talent we have in the organization," notes Music Director Michael Alexander. "The concerto competition is always amazing as you get a sense of just how much talent is in the program. I wish we had time to accommodate several winners!"

Founded in 2006, the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is comprised of gifted young men and women from throughout Georgia ranging in age from 7 - 18, and it is already the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast. The encompasses two full orchestras, two string orchestras, two wind ensembles, a jazz ensemble, a percussion ensemble, a chamber music program and two youth choruses.

The Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (GYSO&C) was founded on the idea that students should have the opportunity to create a lifelong partnership with the arts. Young men and women graduate from the GYSO&C program not only as excellent performers individually, but with a love and appreciation for the arts as a whole. GYSO&C strives to give students a comprehensive music experience, a philosophy that permeates all of its activities. True artistry and passion is created through the desire to share one’s knowledge and gifts with others as well as the ability to grow independent from formal guidance.

The Cobb Symphony Orchestra strives to ensure artistic excellence in a diverse community that takes pride in the Orchestra's artistic success and feels a sense of ownership for the Orchestra. The Cobb Symphony is further dedicated to becoming a catalyst for community collaborations and for lifelong learning, using technology and other means to broaden the musical experience of current and future audiences.
