Barbara Hammond is a native of Marietta and a lifelong music teacher and lover of the arts. She presently is on the music faculty at Kennesaw State University. In addition to coordinating the Music Education program, she teaches classes for both music majors and early childhood majors. She served as the 2004-2007 Faculty Fellow in Character Education for the Siegel Institute for Leadership, Ethics, and Character, where she was involved with community and educational collaborations in Character Education through the Arts. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Mercer University, Masters, Educational Specialist degrees, and PhD work in Music Education from Georgia State University. In addition to her work at Kennesaw State, she has been a private piano teacher, elementary music specialist in the Cobb County Schools, a church Music Director and organist. She has a dedicated interest in music for both early childhood, the older adult learner and for lifelong music learning. She has three lovely grown daughters and nine perfect grandchildren! She loves singing in the CSO Chorus!
