Development Internship


TITLE: Development Intern

REPORTS TO:
Executive Director – Cobb Symphony Orchestra

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and implement all fund-raising activities in collaboration with the Executive
Director and Board of Directors.
• Develop an annual campaign to target staff, volunteers, members, donors,
community leaders and new prospects.
• Develop and cultivate corporate gifts and sponsorships.
• Identify grant opportunities for the orchestra.
• Oversee the development of deferred, planned, and endowed gifts to the orchestra.
• Plan and facilitate all special events.
• Build relationships with special committees, orchestra volunteer groups, and staff.
• Plan and implement all fund-raising activities in accordance with ethical
fundraising principles.
• Prepare regular reports on progress and related fundraising activities to the
Executive Director and Board of Directors.
• Develop and manage timelines for all fundraising activities to ensure strategic
plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
• Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the
privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
• Speak at various civic and corporate groups on behalf of the CSO.
• Maintain awareness of current trends in fundraising and philanthropy
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A BA/BS is required. Course work in arts administration or arts
education is a plus. Knowledge of music is helpful. An advanced degree is a plus, but
not a requirement.

The ideal candidate for this position will pay close attention to detail, be organized,
and deadline driven. He/she will be customer service oriented, and will possess
superb people skills including the desire and ability to work well with diverse
constituencies. The successful candidate will be able to manage numerous tasks and
projects while maintaining a calm, positive attitude and a sense of humor.
