The Cobb Symphony Orchestra Announces the following position:
TITLE:
Executive Director

REPORTS TO:
Board of Trustees – Cobb Symphony Orchestra

Duties and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for managing the human and financial resources of the organization in order to achieve the Symphony’s mission. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the policies set by the Board of Directors, recruiting board members, executive leadership of the organization, helping to realize the artistic vision of the organization, planning, community engagement, and financial planning and control. The Executive Director works closely with the Music Director to shape the direction of the organization and supervises a staff of two full time employees and several part-time positions.

Requirements: Strong leadership, vision, creativity, and management skills; Prior experience in development or as an Executive Director of an arts organization; Ability to work well with the various stakeholders- musicians, board, staff, donors, community leaders, schools, etc.; Ability and personality to be the “face of the CSO” to the public; Passion for the mission of the CSO.

Organization description: The Cobb Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra in the NW suburbs of Atlanta that serves a community of close to 1 million people. The orchestra is comprised of the top free-lance musicians in the region and dedicated professionals from the community including several music teachers and others active in the artistic scene of the community. The artistic staff is led by Music Director Michael Alexander and the organization performs approximately 30 concerts per year to an audience base that continues to rise in each of the last five years. The CSO also encompasses the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, which enrolls approximately 400 musicians each year in the largest youth orchestra program in the southeast; the CSO Chorus with approximately 100 singers; CSO Jazz comprised of the top free-lance jazz musicians in the region; the Georgia Center for the Arts serving hundreds of people of all ages in lessons and arts programs; and the volunteer arm of the organization, Friends of the CSO. The CSO has been a leader in innovative programming, performs with inspiring guest artists, and is a leader in providing outreach to the community. All of this is achieved on a budget of approximately 1 million dollars per year, which has seen a dramatic rise over the last five years and has potential for dramatic growth in the coming years.
