Cobb Symphony Orchestra

Katherine White is an active performer, teacher and clinician throughout the Southeast. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alabama and Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota. She is principal clarinetist and personnel manager of the Cobb Symphony, principal of the Gwinnett Philharmonic and the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. She regularly performs with the Atlanta Symphony, as well as the Alabama Symphony. She has performed with the Atlanta Lyric Theater, Theater of the Stars, Charleston Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Greenville Symphony, Savannah Symphony and Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. She is the leader of the Piedmont Winds woodwind quintet with whom she performs in over 40 metro-Atlanta schools per year for students ranging in age from kindergarten to university level.

Katherine has toured nationally with The Minnesota Opera, performed with the Duluth-Superior Symphony and was one of the founding members of the Intergalactic Contemporary Ensemble. She was awarded first prizes in the Schubert Club Competition in St. Paul, Minnesota and in the Sewanee Music Festival Concerto Competition in Sewanee, Tennessee. Her teachers and coaches include Burt Hara of the Minnesota Orchestra and Laura Ardan of the Atlanta Symphony, and she has performed in master classes by Bil Jackson, Cloyde Williams and Mitchell Lurie, and has performed at the International Clarinet Society Association Conventions in Minneapolis and Atlanta.

Katherine resides in Smyrna, GA with her Border Terrier, Callie, and in her spare time does volunteer work for animal rescue organizations.
